Most party problems come from things nobody asked about before the deposit was paid. Take these questions to every party place you contact, compare the answers side by side, and get the important ones in writing.
When to book: hosts usually book party places (bowling, trampoline parks, escape rooms) about 2–6 weeks ahead (longer for weekend birthday slots). Saturday evenings and the holiday season (November–December) and graduation season (May–June) fill first.
The Questions
- What does the party package include (time, activity, room, food, host)?
- How many guests are included, and what does each extra guest cost?
- Are waivers required, and can parents sign online before the day?
- Can we bring our own cake, decorations or food?
- How long do we have the private room versus the activity?
- What are the age, height or sock rules?
- What is the deposit and the rescheduling policy for illness or weather?
Tips
- Weekend morning slots go first; book early for Saturday birthdays.
- Ask whether the price includes tax and a gratuity for the party host.
- Send waiver links with the invitation so check-in is quick.
Before You Pay a Deposit
- Get the date, start and end times, exact items or services, total price and payment schedule in writing.
- Read the cancellation, weather and rescheduling terms.
- Check that the business name on the contract matches the one you researched.
- Pay deposits by credit card where possible, for buyer protection.
